Description
Vintage Mohawk Midgetape Spy tape recorder with wristwatch microphone, covert briefcase with hidden compartment and hidden microphone, concealed shoulder holster, leather carry holster, cassette cartridge, hand microphone, earphones, original battery and leather briefcase with hidden compartment. The leather briefcase has the original key. Recorder and all accessories are in excellent working condition. The recorder has been fully tested and works well. It records, rewinds and plays back as it should. The recorder can record with the briefcase closed using the hidden microphone. This set has some rare and hard to find accessories, wristwatch microphone, concealed shoulder harness and briefcase with hidden compartment. The recorder was carried in the shoulder holster worn under a jacket or coat and the wristwatch microphone was worn on the left hand with the connecting wire run up the shirt sleeve and connected to the recorder. This allowed the recorder to be covertly hidden under the agents clothing and allowed the agent to record up to one and a half hours. This kit has an original cassette tape with recordings. The tape is in excellent condition and records and plays back well. I have made some test recordings in some blank sections of the tape to test all the microphones. The wristwatch microphone, briefcase microphone and the hand held microphone all tested good and record well. The tape can be played back and listened to through the included headset earphones. The recorder and all accessories are in excellent condition considering they are 63 years old. The recorder is dated on the inside 1955. The recorder and all accessories have been cleaned and serviced and are fully functional. These Midgetape recorders are next to impossible to find in working condition. In the mid 1950's when these recorders first came out they were one of the smallest battery operated tape recorders that could be covertly carried to make secret recordings. These recorders were tested and used by some of the government intelligence agencies and were very popular with private investigators. Very nice cold war spy collectible.
