    Original AKAI R-77MP 7 inch Metal Reels for Tape Recorder GX-747 GX-77 & Other Models
    This has been a part of our collection for a very long time, and have finally decided to offer it for sale.
    We search the world for rare and mint condition Akai metal reels. It's our passion. This is one of our most treasured finds. This has the original packaging from around 1981 when the Akai GX-77 was first released for sale. It was first intended to be paired with the GX-77, hence the numbers "77" in the reel model number. However, this reel model was used on many other Akai reel to reel machines and featured on their official brochures.
    This reel model is more widely known as the Akai R-77M-J, but since this was packaged in plastic the model number is "R-77MP". The cardboard package on this item has storage wear. Because the plastic circular protection has been broken from decades of storage, we have been able to remove the reel and give it a detailed examination.  The reel is extremely clean and visually impressive. It appears to us that the only small scratches it has are hard to make out unless tilted at the right angle in the light. The packaging has certainly done its job through the years by taking most of the damage to itself and keeping the reel beautifully preserved.
    The disturbances you see on the reel in these pictures are almost all isolated to the plastic itself and not the reel!
    We have sold many of this model through the years, but this one in particular is certainly absolutely gorgeous. One of the highest quality currently for sale anywhere.
    This reel is sold as "Seller Refurbished" because we have put it through a very careful and light cleaning to remove dust accumulated from the broken plastic center seal. This reel may have be used and the buyer agrees to this possibility upon purchase.
